Rami Malek is set to play iconic singer and Queen vocalist Freddie Mercury in the upcoming biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody', directed by Bryan Singer.

Singer confirmed Malek's involvement on the project on his Instagram account.

Malek, who recently won the Best Actor Emmy for the hit USA Network show 'Mr. Robot', is the latest actor to be attached to take on the role. Ben Wishaw and fan-favorite Sacha Baron Cohen were once considered to play Mercury in the project, but backed out for different reasons.

No statement has been made on what particular aspect of Mercury's life the highly anticipated biopic will be focusing on, though the title 'Bohemian Rhapsody' seems to possibly imply that the film might be going for Queen's career peak in the '70s.

'Bohemian Rhapsody' will be released soon in cinemas.
