If I Stay (Film Review)

Sep 20, 2014
Like it's female lead, 'If I Stay' felt like it puts you in a long coma, not knowing of when will it stop. It complicates itself a bit, and what may it seem like a good date movie turned into a sleep session.

Mia Hall thought the hardest decision she would ever face would be whether to pursue her musical dreams at Juilliard or follow a different path to be with the love of her life, Adam. But what should have been a carefree family drive changes everything in an instant, and now her own life hangs in the balance.

Caught between life and death for one revealing day, Mia has only one decision left, which will not only decide her future but her ultimate fate.

Chloe Grace-Moretz has mature a lot looking through the years with her acting. Her performance actually is the only one that drives the movie next to that cello.
This movie isn't actually what you thought about in the first place. This isn't about someone's experience outside of her coma-state body. It showed that moment in a one or two scenes. The rest is a bunch of flashbacks, yes flashbacks (there's tons of them actually) that we don't actually care about meeting this guy and dating him, making out with him. The list goes on, but this isn't what I went to see.

Plus, Jamie Blackley, who played Moretz's love interest was too bland that you didn't care about him at all. The pacing of this movie. My gosh, how boring and long this was. The flashbacks almost took like forever. The director could've done a lot better with this. Such pity.

The geek rates it 4/10.
